Privacy policy
This page explains what Instant Ledger collects, why, and what rights readers have under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. We collect very little, because this site does not process deposits, accounts or payment details.

Instant Ledger is an information site, not a gambling operator or payment processor, and this policy reflects that. We do not open accounts, process deposits or withdrawals, or hold payment credentials of any kind. What follows sets out, in plain terms, the limited data this site does collect and how it is handled under Australian privacy law.
Our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988
Instant Ledger handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) it sets out, which govern how organisations collect, use, store and disclose personal information in Australia. These principles cover matters such as being transparent about collection, limiting use to the stated purpose, keeping information reasonably secure, and allowing a person to access or correct information held about them. We apply these principles regardless of whether a particular reader's situation would otherwise fall under a small-business exemption.
What counts as personal information here
In the ordinary course of running this site, the personal information we are realistically likely to hold is limited to an email address, if a reader contacts us directly, and standard server log data generated automatically by any web request, covered in the next section. We do not ask readers to create accounts, submit identity documents, or provide financial details, so categories of sensitive information common to a payments or gambling business simply do not arise on this site.
Data we collect
Server logs record standard technical information generated by any web request: IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time of the request. This data is used only to keep the site running reliably, to understand aggregate traffic patterns, and to investigate technical faults or abuse, such as automated scraping. We do not combine server logs with any other data source to build a profile of an individual reader.
If a reader emails us directly, we hold that email address and its content for as long as reasonably needed to respond and, where relevant, to track a correction to published content. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose email correspondence to any third party, and we do not use a reader's email address for marketing, since this site sends none.
What we deliberately do not collect
Because Instant Ledger has no login system, no deposit function, and no payment gateway, we do not collect passwords, bank account details, card numbers, or identity documents. If a reader ever encounters a form on this site requesting that kind of information, it is not one we have put there, and we would want to know about it at the contact address below.
Cookies
This site uses functional cookies only, the minimum needed for basic technical operation, such as remembering a display preference during a single visit. We do not run third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or cross-site analytics networks that build a profile of a reader across other websites. A reader can block or delete cookies through their browser's own settings at any time; doing so will not prevent the site's core content from loading, since no cookie here is required to read a page.
Retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period sufficient for the technical and security purposes described above, after which they are deleted or aggregated into a form that no longer identifies an individual request. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve the matter raised and to maintain an accurate record of any content correction made as a result, after which it is deleted from active systems.
Your rights, and the OAIC
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, a reader can ask what personal information we hold about them and request a correction if it is inaccurate. Given the limited data this site collects, in practice this will usually mean an email address and any correspondence attached to it. To make such a request, contact [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If a reader believes we have mishandled their personal information and is not satisfied with our response, they can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the independent regulator responsible for privacy complaints under the Privacy Act 1988. The OAIC's complaint process is free and does not require a lawyer to use.
External links
Some pages on this site link to external sources for verification: the Australian Communications and Media Authority, the official PayID explainer, the BetStop self-exclusion register, and Gambling Help Online. These are the only external domains we link to. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we do not control and which a reader should check separately before submitting any information on those sites directly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if our data-handling practices change or if the Privacy Act or the Australian Privacy Principles are amended in a way that affects it. The date at the foot of this page, and the article metadata on this page, reflect when it was last updated. Material changes will be reflected here rather than communicated by any other channel, since this site does not hold a mailing list to notify.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request relating to personal information we may hold, can be sent to [email protected]. For anything relating to a reader's own gambling rather than to this site's data practices, the appropriate contact is Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858, not this address.
